Witteveen+Bos
KIJK project

The KIJK project (Dijkversterking Krachtige IJsseldijken Krimpenerwaard) focuses on improving the primary dikes along the Hollandse IJssel to better protect the region against flooding. The area is also sensitive to settlements. Witteveen+Bos plays an important role in this project by providing advanced technical designs and

innovative solutions for the dike reinforcement. During the workshop at the symposium, we will address an integrated case study, in which the hydrological and geotechnical aspects of the dike reinforcement are just one part of the workshop. This dike reinforcement project is also characterized by a complex (traffic) phasing and interesting environmental management. This project is a typical example of an integrated task where Witteveen+Bos contributes in all civil engineering fields (hydraulic engineering/geotechnics, traffic engineering, and construction management). During this integrated workshop, all fields of expertise will be covered!

1.500 new houses – towards the boundaries of the current infrastructure

In a city a residential area is being expanded with 1,500 new homes. This creates thousands of new traffic movements every day. With innovative methods such as floating car data and drone research, we have gained good insight into the current traffic situation. The question is whether the current infrastructure is futureproof and can cope with the traffic generation of the expansion. Can you provide insight in the future traffic situation and come up with ideas to keep it acceptable?
See you at the workshop!
Antea Group
Excel-AI

Artificial Intelligence is already widely used in Civil Engineering. It’s not only used to write reports faster
but also to optimize designs. In this workshop, Antea Group will show how leading engineering firms utilize this new technology. The session will start with a 30-minute presentation, followed by a 60-minute exercise of building your own AI in Excel (so bring your laptop).

The Highway Hub as a testing ground for innovation
As a public client, how do you find the right market party to jointly realize your sustainability ambitions? That’s what the Highway Hub case study is all about.
A major Dutch road authority is aiming for climate-neutral and circular operations by 2030. One of the projects being initiated to meet this aspiration is the development of an innovative “Highway Hub” on a section of highway. This place should serve as a testing ground for innovation, and in addition to its function as a highway, should provide space for various parties to experiment with innovative, sustainable initiatives.
The highway authority will not realize this hub itself. Instead, a suitable market party must be sought that shares these ambitions and is capable of realizing the hub. The road authority approached AT Osborne for advice on how to find this partner. It is up to you as consultants to answer this question!

NL2120 in practice
Climate change and the decline of biodiversity form enormous challenges to the viability of deltas around the world. We are also noticing the direct consequences of this in the Netherlands. An integrated approach is essential, in which we focus on sustainable and climate-proof use of our land and water systems. But how do you approach this? How do you find the most effective (natural) solutions?
Sweco is one of the partners in the NL2120 consortium, a unique collaboration between governments, social organizations, companies and knowledge and educational institutions. Together we are looking for innovative, practically applicable natural solutions, which we also call ‘nature based solutions’. This is becoming increasingly important in spatial issues, such as the expansion or creation of new residential areas.
You will work on making a plan of approach on how you will apply the NL2120 in practice in a spatial issue. Think of water and soil steering. Are you ready to take on this challenge?
