“Climate-robust design of a river in an urban area”
Water bodies in urban areas are valuable and improve the attractiveness of a city. However, with a rapidly changing climate, rivers inside an urban area might cause nuisance or even floods. Lochem, a city close to Twente, has a stream through the city and has a low-lying neighbourhood next to it. In this workshop you have to design a cost-effective solution for protecting the low-lying area from high water with attention to the needs and wishes of all stakeholders involved. During this real-life case you are challenged to make efficient and innovative use of the area and the design of the stream while satisfying different stakeholders.
