Workshop Mott MacDonald

The population of Utrecht will grow up to 455.000 inhabitants until 2040. That is a growth of roughly 30% in the upcoming 20 years. This growth in population brings up a wide range of challenges. These new inhabitants need a place to live, a place to work and must be able to move through the city.

This changing city demands new solutions for transportation otherwise a gridlock will appear in and around Utrecht in 2040. To prevent a gridlock the municipality of Utrecht has developed a “Mobility Plan 2040”. This mobility plan describes the different strategies to deal with the various challenges.

This workshop focuses on the transportation aspect of the plan, where you get accustomed to different solutions and review the city in a wider context.
