Chair of the Day

The day’s chair leads the day of the symposium. Martijn Peters, treasurer of the ConcepT board in 2016, will be the chair of the Symposium 2024.

I’m Martijn Peters, a hydraulic engineer at Sweco. I graduated from the University of Twente in early 2020, where my passion for integral and innovative projects in the water safety world originated. To complete the Master Water Engineering and Management, I conducted research on the Brede Groene Dijk. In this project locally sourced soil is used to reinforce the dike to cope with sea level rise. The Brede Groene Dijk is a clear example of future-proof engineering in the Dollard region.

At Sweco, I continue my dedication to engineering for the future, notably contributing to projects like the dike improvement from Cuijk to Ravenstein and Salmsteke to Schoonhoven. In these projects I have an integral role where I focus on both technical and environmental challenges. In my opinion, the only way of future-proof engineering is to tackle big challenges like climate change and urbanisation with an integral view. I look forward to hear about your vision and opinion on how to pave the way for future-proof engineering at the symposium!
